He’s always had an adventurous side enjoying hobbies such as hang gliding, skateboarding, surfing and trail running. Rayno credits his obsession with service and his dedication to customer satisfaction to his 15-year career as a waiter. To date, he has created inhouse brands – OneNav, Planet Multimedia, Smart Mirror and TyreTech. Along with his team, Rayno sources products then, working closely with the manufacturer, helps develop and customise them to suit the South African market. Thanks to him, Planetworld is a supplier to the likes of Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ford, Subaru, Datsun, KIA, Haval and Toyota to mention a few. Rayno has created and maintained excellent relationships with motor manufacturers.
In 2008 the original owner sold the company to the van Heerden family, who officially took over as of May 2008 and have since managed to grow it into what it is today. At that time it was a far smaller enterprise, consisting of 1 branch with 6 staff members. He has been with the company since 2003, originally working as an employee in the position of Sales Manager. Rayno sits on the board of Directors as a shareholder.
